finally got round to getting a quote.
one so far had quoted £1800 for rubber, £1200 for felt and £1600 for grp.
he advise me against getting grp as he had to repair a few,
I've had my Dorma roof done over 25 years ago and still good.it need a good clean and [paint now.
he quoted £400 to do both and said I was lucky I didn't have problems.
I said why would I if the job was done properly and the guy who did used marine plywood and not OSB3 timber roof boards.
but I dont think that OSB3 timber roof boards were around then?
getting a few more quotes before I decide.
£1800 I dont think its a bad price.

get a quote of glen meager roofing he done the daughters neighbors garage roof in grp and re boarded for for £1200 and made a good job

what size is the roof.....Ive recently had the dormers done with epdm

5 years ago I paid £1100 + vat to have our 9’ x18’ garage roof redone in 18mm external ply and bauder built up felt.

TBH rubber is the only one I would use, built up felt is akin to nailing a sack over the door of your cave, I left my built up felt roof on, added some purlins over the top to increase the slope, and over roofed the lot with kinspan seconds box profile roofing sheets, and you get 75mm indulation thrown in, and much cheaper!

So when you ran your tongue about my price of £1500 excluding the 18mm plywood it brings it up to your quoted rubber price of £1800 does,nt it mate and EPDM is less work and cheaper to buy than the Torch on system i use...Oh and btw if a roofer uses Marine plywood then you would be paying 5K but ile let you work that one out.

I'd use grp. I did my shed myself, OSB then 600gsm mat. I used a kit from eBay. My shed is 4m X 2.5m. got sick of felting it every 6 or 7 years
It wasn't difficult. It should outlast me, it can be walked on too.
I just had a few nights watching YouTube videos for my training!
Got another shed to do this year, much smaller though!

I cant stand flat roofs or the types in this area who profess to being experts, I had one renewed and about ten years on it was still causing problems. I ripped the lot off in the end, laid new decking and did it in code six lead. Still worked out cheaper than the clowns that wanted to do it in fibre glass, just checked current prices and its still only about £100 a sq meter.

I do emergency repairs that last longer,no wonder your disillusioned and that's the problem in my game but its my gain as i go round every day mopping up other peoples mess.

In the steel works they had a CREEP LAB ....and to show any visitors, what creep was, they had a lump of lead, once a cube of about 12".....it had been stood there for donkeys years and over time it had moved so it was actually overflowing the shelf it was sat on....it had probably sunk 6" and spread so the 12" cube was now 6" x 18" ...........that was about 30 years ago....I dont know what happened to it. I dont know how long it takes but one day your roof will black out your windows ....i doubt you will be here to do the repair though

Yeah to be fair, it was just heavy green mineral felt, stuck on with a bit of bitumastic paint and felt nails.
Hardly a proper job!!!

as roofman said torch on felt is good .they have just done all the roofs on a school i do work at . i just repaired daughters garage roof with 2 new boards and a roll of torch on was well pleased with it . she has sold the house now so the rest doesnt need doing by us
