garage heating

went with a 3kw electric space heater in the end ,1.5 and 3kw,and is thermocontrolled so can maintain a temp ,no condensation or fumes ,hopefully have not wasted my money ,did get it on a vat free day. heater its quite too

I have been using a couple of 3kw fan heaters for years now, stick them both on for about 15 mins before I start then switch one off and put the other on half to maintain the heat, I did try an oil filled rad once, but that was a total waste of time.

Found a review on tinernet of space heaters where they compared propane space heater against electric both were priced at the same price for usage ,electric took a while longer to raise temp but being thermostatically controlled can maintain a temp where as space heater was all or nothing,on or off,that with the condensation,fumes, noise and having to go get gas made me believe electric was best for me ,time will tell

Old thread, interested to know how you got on with the electric heater?

Shopping around at the minute for either an electric or propane space heater for a 12'x12' garage.

still using the heater ,i have no idea how expensive it is to run,but gets garage up to temp,quickly and quietly,and can maintain a temp ,,small as well!

Its a sealy radiant type, heres a picture of it. Must admit I don't like the fact that it attachchs to the bottle, but when I get round to it I'll make a stand for it. But its ideal for my small workshop as it heats it very well, even when its below freezing outside.

my garage is to big to heat
gas space heaters or kero are 2 noisy and use a lot of fuel .the radiant type works fine just point it to where your working and cheap to run
