Hi all, I've been digging around for alternatives the past few days and it is breaking my nut. My new house has a fantastic garage in a (semi) basement. It has a standard barn door entrance and is 80m2!! There is not enough headroom for a lift, but ok, you can't have it all. I have about 800 euro for various renovations to the garage and the following options would need to be covered. Lighting, painting the walls, preparing the floor. If I have some cash left, I'll be looking into a fluid cooled chop/mitre saw.
The options I looked at:
PVC Tiles, much cheaper than 20 euro per m2 is difficult to find and then you get the bottom of the barrel trash. From 30 euro per m2 it starts to get decent. That is just too expensive! These things should be cheap as chips being made from recycled plastic and such. Why are they so damned expensive?
Epoxy 2k: Much cheaper than 800 euro for primers and 2 coats is difficult to find. That provides a floor and nothing for a chop saw.
Ceramic tiles: Will take some time to lay and will be around 300-500 euro for the floor depending how cheap they are to get.
1K PU concrete paint: @ about 130 euro for enough paint for 3-4 coats, it is cheap, but known to wear and has no resistance to oils.
Cheap laminate flooring: Can be gotten for as little as 1 euro per m2 although it will be poor quality. It will most probably outlast the PU paint, but by how much.
What are the opinions?
