Garage door not locking

Hi gents

Can anyone point me in the solution as to why the garage door won’t lock properly

It comes down won’t latch on and lock for some reason

Any ideas where to check first

The black rotary part doesn’t seem to lock on

Kicking it and swearing loudly is a good start.

On a more practical note it sounds like something has moved, or has become trapped in the mechanism. Tough to pin it down from a distance. Best of luck.

Presumable the pin with the arm on it is for unlocking. I also presume that you've checked the arm there *isn't* holding it back. I'd kind of expect it to look like this dodgy photo manipulation when locked:

My first efforts would be to spray with something like WD40 followed by some spray grease and working the components.

Iv checked the slide pin but it moves freely you can’t even feel the piece locking in to anything
