Garage and House rewire.

I moved house in early this year while on furlough, I'm now back at work so time is limited.

I've finally managed to get a 3 phase meter installed, replacing the old single phase unit, which involved changing power supplier...

So this weekend I started to prepare for a complete rewire, but the first job is the garage rewire, followed next year by the house...

The wiring is a rat's nest, the garage (which was the old post office) has some form of ring mains lighting and power. The house has a mix of spur and ring mains, so a complete rewire is required.

I have a mix of domestic, semi- commercial, post office (Romec wiring) and a house/post office alarm system.

This weekend I installed mains fuse holders, a new consumer unit for the house and a 3 phase distribution board for the garages power supply.

The first 3 pictures are of the new install, the rest are the old consumer unit and rats nest wiring which will be removed next year after the house rewire, don't cringe to much.

The black armoured cable in the 1st and 2nd photo is the supply cable for the old consumer unit, now a temporary supply.

I've made a small start in the garage, I have installed a 16amp and 32amp blue sockets, so I can at least fire up, my new mig welder.

I intend to install about 5 x 3ph 5 pin (3L+N+E), the 3ph sockets will each be run/wired separately through 3 pole mcb breakers from the distribution board.

I have 3 machines that require a 415V due to old brooks motor wiring or being 2 speed motors, l used to power these by a rotary transwave, I also have a 2 or 3 machines that I ran of off inverters (3 x 220v).

My question is this, being as I have 415v (delta?) and 3 x 220 (star?) wired machines at the moment, when I come to connect them up to the 3ph board.

Will having some motors wired as delta and some star on the same distribution board, will it cause any inbalance, phase conflicts or problems?

Or do I need to rewire all the motors as in 415v delta.

Sorry I understand how to run them from a 1ph supply via a converter or inverter, as for a mains 3 phase motor wiring, I'm numpty....

How could you wire 220v star as 415v delta? Are there paralleled windings?

I can change the motor windings links in the motors wired as star to delta, no problems.

dual voltage motors 240 or 415 the older ones are just 415

As this is a new instal the 3 phase sockets should be on an rcd as well now.

But to achieve dual voltage you move between start and delta. How do you wire a 220v STAR to 415v DELTA is my question?

run your supply out to the sockets on a radial and use one triple pole mcb no need for them to be run on separate supplies as they wont all be running at once use diversity

But the OP states that the motor is 220v STAR.

I've re-read the post. He clearly doesn't know whether they're star or delta for the voltages stated, so has erroneously assigned 220v to star and 415 to delta.
