found an answer!, apparently the 360 is only campatible with about 200 of the standard xbox games theres a list here but all the good ones seem to be there, well halo's are

BluRay is the successor to DVD. Or at least, it will be if downloads don't kill it before it gets off the ground but that's besides the point. If you have an HD TV then you get a much better picture from a BluRay disc. If you don't then it's totally pointless! I can see your point about buying a second-hand one though.

I think the old xbox is still quite capable, it is really just a pc inside so you can upgrade the hard disc to store backups on and other bits and bobs if you chip it. I held off buying a 360 until someone broke the protection and ported linux to it (long complicated reason) and didn't really feel too out of it. If a game has good gameplay and involves you, you don't really notice slightly blocky graphics here and there.

For the original choice for me its simple, if you want to play macho fps shootem ups etc on your own when bored, get the ps3, if you want to have a laugh with mates or family get the wii. Its completely different to any other console on the market.

I'm not Paul. It's been a long time since I swizzled the old joystick - better things to do. It's the laddie.... but I must admit I can get absorbed in a bit of gameplay. Give it a couple of weeks and i'll forget about it.

All can say is Xbox360 FTW! Hook one up to a 1080p TV and have play on Assasins Creed, kinda like TombRaider but set back during the Holy Crusades or the TombRaiders or ANY of the Halo series (they all rock!!)
Xbox360's will play online virtually straight away PS3's dont. The X360 has a massive online gaming community, including people of all abilities and interests.

I have an Xbox 360. Seldom play games on my own but when the little 'un has gone to bed, regularly get online and play Gears of War II or similar with mates.

The social aspect of 360 gaming is what makes it fun for me. Not interested in hearing a load of 15 year old kids swearing and acting the internet hardman, so we generally keep our games open to friends only and we have a blast. Nobody takes it too seriously and when new people join in, we don't feel the need to give them heaps of abuse for being newbies, which frankly spoils half the games in public matches.
