gadget guru help required please apple!

Help I'm about the caress my Mrs and her mac book with a hammer, it is about the most un user friendly piece of gadgetry I've even had the miss fortune to play with. The mac book not the Mrs.

Right 2014 mac book air, has slowed right down yes its old, makes sense, so shes bought her self a windows 10 PC. For some reason icloud and icloud drive are not updating, so I can get her stuff over the the windows pc. Part of the issue is shes not had the icloud working as its was playing silly things over passwords, but have now got that sorted.

Is there an easy way to get stuff from the mac book to a windows pc, mainly photos and office docs apart from emailing them.

Got a Gmail. Dump it all on Google drive.

if you have this

1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
2. Go to System Preferences > Sharing.
3. Mark the checkbox next to File Sharing in the left panel.
4. Click on the Options button and a new window will open.
5. Enable the checkbox next to Share files and folders using SMB.
6. Additionally, tick the box next to Share files and folders using AFP.
7. In the Windows File Sharing section below, mark the checkbox alongside each user whose files you want to share.
8. Enter the users' passwords.
9. Click on Done.

external hard rives files are in different formats.

I may try the google drive but suspect it wont like apple files we shall see.

I will look at the Gaz option it seems sensible in apple speak. Thanks

just remember with file share once you do

copy and paste them to your hard drive

Thanks @gaz1 easy when you know how. couldn't find the AFP option. Doing this made it upload to the cloud. so Im happy

I looked at that but it seemed to be for moving to a mac rather than away from a mac

Funny thing is, after 20 odd years of working with Apple Mac, I have never had to go Mac ->PC!

I assumed it would, clearly it doesn’t. Easy enough to do though and you’re sorted....

to be honest the fact the machine has been hassle free for over 6 years though expensive has been better than our pc experience they normally last 3 years before going breasts up. Simplistically put its just different and I've never played with it to learn its quirks. They cant be crap there are so many sold, and to repeat buyers, there just different like the transformer/ to inverter mig debate

are you sure not all combis are the same and like on the other post i made it clear check your manual first as it has a fault finding diagnose inside of it

otherwise your arguments pathetic to include it within this post

Use a Dropbox account. Move everything you want transferring into the Dropbox folder on the Mac. Create the same account on your Windows PC and they will sync via the internet.
Some files may not show on the PC due to their name and use of illegal characters but will still be on the online version of your Dropbox. You can rename them to appear in Windows.
Keep using Dropbox for all your files you want to keep safe
