Ex. B.I.L. made a 5 x 6 foot trailer out of 50x 50 x 5mm angle like that , he'd not only got the balance point wrong . There was only about 4 kg on the tow ball when loaded , brake and it was horrible as the weight transfer tried to tip the trailer backwards .
He used 15 mm ( ?? ) marine ply for the lid , to say it was heavy was an understatement . .
When the lid was propped up the wind still tried to rip it off or get the stay to fall out .
Once the lid was on it was so top heavy it was dangerous even when the bed was full of heavy stuff . I modified it , put a spare wheel on the front end , took the lid off , welded on lashing points & used a proper heavy cotton canvas cover instead held in place with an elastic cargo net & ratchet straps .
