Fuel pressure gauge tester

I want to make up a fuel pressure gauge tester for automotive use. I don't know much about them. Can anyone recommend good quality type/brand of pressure gauge and/or links to suppliers of the components I will need.

Fuel pressure gauge 0 - 100psi (0 - 7 bar) 50mm dia.
Fuel hose/pipe
Bleed off valve
Flow control valve
Hose fittings/adaptors

Edit.
The connections to engine fuel injection components are metric threads.

I have made up fixed and flexible hose/pipework for a compressed airline.

Hello Richweld,

if you want to have a fuel pressure gauge installed in your car, don't use a mechanical gauge, but an electrical one (i.e., no high pressure fuel in side the car.). If you just want to monitor fuel pressure, then a gauge and flexible is all you need, just as the link shows.

I have seen a number of kits on ebay and elsewhere similar to the virtualvillage.co.uk link such as:

These kits are not quite what I require. They don't have a control valve, bleed off valve or metric fittings. The gauge needs to be liquid (glycerin) filled. Some cheap gauges may not be very accurate.

This is the type of kit I was looking for, but they don't supply fuel gauges, and the metric thread sizes are not the sizes I need (typical).

what exactly are you trying to do, from the sound of the gauge you want it to be a permanent installation, but where are you going to mount the gauge?

I want to test fuel pressures to find a fault. Its a k-jet fuel injection system. It is not to be a permanent installation.

in that case I suggest that you are over engineering the kit you need. The gauge on a flex is adequate. Why the need for a valve and bleed off?

Control valve (closed) is required to test the line pressure (primary pressure) . This article explains:

Bleed off valve is not essential, but useful to bleed the pressure gauge.

BTW I ain't got a 911, just a similar injection system.

I have a petrol injection Triumph and all I ever check is the after regulator pressure. Admittedly a far more basic system than the one you are looking at.

If the gauge needs to be particularly accurate you will need to look for a calibrated version, just means they have been tested to conform to a certain accuracy and will be marked as such. Otherwise, general purpose gauges can vary by quite a degree from the scale reading. Go for a stainless cased, glycerine damped type, they are available from quite a range of suppliers, RS and the like tend to be quite expensive for the same thing.

I have made several gauges, compression and tyre pressure, used a cheap 4" face 15psi gauge for a low pressure tyre gauge, checked it with a manometer and it was pretty good. It was still ok after ten years abuse a mate bought a pukkah Moroso gauge and after a year it was reading close to 10psi at a true pressure of 3-1/2 psi, so the cheap gauge was fine but they do vary and alter so if it's real important you need to figure a way of calibrating it.
I made a diesel compression tester a few years ago, I had a 1000psi glycerine filled gauge I had been mistakenly supplied, so it cost nothing, but should have been £14. Haven't checked it but it gives sensible readings, though it would be better with a smaller range.
Any hydraulics shop will be able to flog you a gauge.
