Fuel cost comparison.

I'm just doing invoicing for November. Unusually I've been doing the same thing at the same site as last November so I have a like for like calendar month fuel comparison 12 months apart. £209:85 Nov 2020 and £286:02 Nov 2021.

So a month's fuel is £76:17 more this year than last. Throw in all the other overheads that have gone up in the last year and no wonder everyone is having to increase their rates to stand still.

so £20 quid a fill up more than last year

Has anyone noticed an increase in fuel consumption with the E10?

However, the UK Government recognizes that E10 petrol can see a slight reduction in fuel economy, though this is like to be only around 1%. ( were the govment & here to help)


That said, the UK Government has carried out an impact assessment and has found that using E10 fuel is likely to cost around 0.2p per litre more than E5 petrol. That means that if you're filling up a 50-litre fuel tank on your car, you can expect to pay an extra £1.00 increase when filling up.

Somebody needs to tell my fuel gauge there is only 1% difference, because it seems closer to 10%.

I doubt I'd notice 1% in normal use, but I've certainly noticed it dropping substantially quicker since the switch!

And diesel was £169.9 at Gordano M5 services Saturday somewhat excessive I feel, I did not partake of their kind offer
So diesel fuel prices are aprox 20p more than just off M way

To be fair though, that has always been the case with Motorway services. Saying that, Gordano doesn't quite fit that description!

I filled up my old 3series the other day from an indicated 11miles remaining. £96!!! From a normal, reasonably priced, station.

That did add 900odd miles to the range indicator though.

sadly, I'm the same, head in the sand works for me.... although I usually stop at 95 euros, seem to have a psycological block of putting a hundreds worth into a van.....

Its no better here , on or around € 1.70 for petrol and 1.60 for diesel . Even with further increases id sooner pay up than be forced into an electric car

Yep, I've only put 70 quid of fuel in the Lancia this year too.


Working from home has some benefits . . . I think I've only put a couple of hundred in the Dodge . . . The Caterham is still running well on fuel from late 2019! Alfa last had fuel in January.

That's the norm for me, I don't pay any attention to pump prices etc. Aside from another thing on the list for impotent rage it achieves nothing, it's not like you can do anything about it.

I can't remember another occasion where I was at the same place, same month, two years in a row. So when I was putting the receipts up for the accountant it struck me and I was curious to see how much that one thing had changed.

Wish I still had my old Escort van . LPG /petrol, Autogas is about 70 p/ litre. Volvo and I think Vauxhall were the last to offer bi fuel factory option. Seemed to fall out of favour but lots of garages now sell it mostly for motor homes with refillable bottles.

Apart from the government, the fuel retailers have not passed on reduced oil/fuel prices to the customer! The greedy sods are making up for what they last during lockdown

Yep, my point exactly!!

It will come down, a price drop in crude takes a good while to filter down to the pumps.Its a futures thing, millions of barrels of it will have been sold/secured at the old price and it will only come down for the consumer when the cheaper gear is being refined.
