wouldnt have thought so its a rust inhhibitor as wellHi Guys,
Does anyone know if it would cause a problem if I added anti-feeze to the suds for my saw?
I went out to the garage today and the continuous freezing temperatures have cause the suds in the tank to freeze to a solid block![]()

i use it in my power washer pump and pit pump all winter with no probs as long as it mixes with the soluble oil.test a bit
I`ve spent the last two weeks thawing out coolant on machines, mostly cnc but my saw also.Starting at 4 or 5 in the morning to get coolant working for guys coming in at 8.
We had antifreeze in them last year and not many problems but it evaporates and we`ve been so busy in the run up to Christmas that I`ve not had time to get more in.
Helps, but what`s left in the system still freezes.
Now that is a ball ache
I will be disconecting the power feed to the pump tomorrow and bringing the whole plot into the house to thaw (tank and pump). Anti-freeze will then be added.I`ve spent the last two weeks thawing out coolant on machines, mostly cnc but my saw also.Starting at 4 or 5 in the morning to get coolant working for guys coming in at 8.

but make sure the wires or metal but is not in the water or they will corrodeGet a plank of wood cut a 2" hole in it and staple a 12v car headlight bulb to the wood.
Float in the coolant with the bulb bit hanging down into the coolant and run off a battery charger or similar.

why not just add the antifreeze it should thaw out the ice on contact anyway shouldnt it

Hadn't thought about that - I always thought it had to be dispersed in the water to work.

So, the moral of this thread, for me anyway, is to either keep the workshop floor temp above freezing or remember to add anti-freeze next year.
