Fronius Transpocket 1500 Help

Hi guys so I've picked up a fairly battered Transpocket 1500, mate paid £40 is asking me £150.

It seems to be running okay but the boards look a bit dirty and the mode lights aren't working properly. When you turn it on the stick, cel, and tig lights and the warning light all come on, but when you press the green button to change mode only the TIG light illuminates.

Has anyone got the manual for one of these and does anyone know who the UK distributer is/service agent?

Fronius UK are based in Milton Keynes. Not many actual distributors which are also service agents as far as I know. Where are in the UK?

I don't want to sound iffy mate but a really clean example of that excellent machine imo is 200-220. They ain't overly dear new. (450-500 iirc) £150 for a battered one with faults on the display is a little rich and I personally would of stopped at a ton. Any way hindsight achieves nothing and it's bought now. I don't see the need for a manual as its a very simple operation machine. Select the process and set the current.

I am not familiar with any of the Frontius machines but was surprised when Westermans sold a used faulty Fronius 1400mv machine on eBay the other week for over £200.

Hi all, basically he paid £40 from a co worker that was strapped for cash, he has been online seen what they are new and he wants £150 from me. He has no real use for it but I do, it would be very handy onsite. I think he knows this. He reckons cash converters will give him £170 for it. I'm not so sure.

So I've got the machine here with me but I havent paid for it yet.

Some photos and some vertical up 7018. Stringer root and weave cap. It runs nice.

The TransPocket range have been relaunched so that is no longer a current model. I seriously doubt cash converters will give anywhere near £170 for it but as with everything you pay your money you take your chance.

From memory the list price on that one was around £550-£600

I can't 100% remember how the serial numbering works on Fronius kit now, but I'm fairly sure it's from 2005 so quite a lot of money for something that's 11 yrs old and has obviously seen a lot of action, but has to be said a cracking performing machine

Worth every penny new, not so much at that age. Especially as almost nothing on them is economically viable to repair.

Well I've just turned round to the guy and said basically it's not economical to repair if it goes wrong the most I would be willing to give is £100 and he has said he will chuck it on eBay. So the cash converters thing was obviously not true.
Real friends aye?

£170 from Cash Converters was never going to happen. They only pay a pittance for nearly new stuff that they will have no trouble shifting like Tablets, Phones, X Boxes etc so there was no way they would pay that for something which to them is a totally unknown quantity.

It seems he was just trying it on. Shame as he has bagged it for a bargain but trying to make you (a friend) pay through the nose.

And the chances are he'll get his £150 through eBay as people tend to jump on stuff like that. Like Jim said very good units and worth the new price tag.
If you sent it to Fronius they would look at it for you but it will cost that £150 again just to whip the covers off and blow it out.
£100 is a fair offer imo and I would of just used it till it died.

Shame really but I'm not prepared to take the risk better to buy a new
model.

It does weld lovely though.
