Just taken delivery of a new set for the hire fleet, a beast of a machine at 550 amps. We've sold a few and were very impressed and for the occasional projects that are just too much for our 300 amp units this should prove very capable.

Yep

I just put on the Speedway 320 torch, a set that nice deserves a decent torch.

320 amp on DC and 270 amp on AC is awesome performance for a torch if that size.

Is the cable on the torch a bit stiff and heavy? Leather covered though!! Looks lovely and small for that amperage. About the size of a wp17?

No, it's synthetic rubber with overbraid on it, so it's very flexible as is the leather sheath (made from pig's skin so I'm told) the stitching appears to be kevlar too, all top quality stuff.

List price on our V50, is something like £9,000, so I bet that's simerla.

Have you seen the Tig torches from Translas Jim? They do a WP 20 type that's 300 amps AC.

No I haven't, high end torches don't get many takers round here, price seems to be everything with quality taking a back seat. But as far as I'm concerned putting a cheap torch on a high end machine is like putting flip flops on Ussain Bolt!
As for the price, yeah, I think the 551 lists at around £10,500, the one we got has the extra hardware for running the hot/cold wire feed and has a price tag around £13K

Not cheap, around the 250 mark with a control plug and dinze adaptor I guess.
