Free / cheap music services 2025?

Spotify just upped the monthly price again to £12.99 so I cancelled it on principle of these companies always rising prices and not offering anything extra!

So come a couple weeks time ill need to have another app or digitial downloads saved to a pen stick for my car.

Aby suggestions please, I am presuming and hoping free music downloads is still a thing

Piratebay is still a thing. You will have to do your own curating though.

It's blocked due to court orders and the like but can be accessed using a VPN or TOR.

This is my go-to music site especially on a mobile phone hooked up to a bluetooth speaker when working outside (beers are optional but recommended)

On some of my pc's I can "save as" to put the music onto a memory stick.
If that doesn't work I install a download program that does it for me ... I recommend :

I use Musicolet as a player on my phone. It's an offline service that only plays your stored music.

Back when we had headphone jacks and removable SD cards, I used to use my phone plugged straight into an amp with no headunit with all the music stored locally. When I had a phone call or google maps read out directions it would automatically pause and restart the music and had better sound quality for both people on the call than dedicated hands free kits. Zero setup, it just worked like that on a Samsung S4 mini, later phones didn't work so well even with a headphone jack, can't remember why though.

If your head unit has an aux input it could be worth a try using your phone instead of a seperate drive.

most phones now dont have a head phone port just bluetooth
