really smart design, my parents are currently looking for something similar
Existing brick posts broke, as always got my disclaimer against such unknowns. Will be doing a re-fit. Foc once I get off the fitting and welding contract I am on presentlyPlates 50x 10 forged end wall plates onto brick pillars four m10 resin fixed studs into the brick
40 mm diameter barrel hinges 2 per side

Not quite, the customer knew one of the posts were past it. We decided it was worth a go still. I always get a disclaimer signed on dodgy looking posts. As it happens the other one snapped actually fracturing the bricks not the mortor. Going back to refit again but on a contract through Jan and into Feb 7 days a weekLooks very sturdy if not to say massively heavy! I guess it pulled the brick pillar over with it?
Here's a thought: build a form around suitable brick pillar, fill with silicon to form a mould, dismantle, rebar and cast in concrete.

Oh yeah they would totally love that over the hand made solid carved stone ones they had fitted just before Christmas.
I wondered what that funny little blob was in my Crystal Ball. I will have to Gaze more carefully next time.
Ah, gave up on pushing stuff I won't generally be doing a long while back. I suspect they thought them stronger in stone and got let down by three builders on the trot about sinking them. This dates back to early summer 2016 and they only got planted in the run up to Christmas (not looking forward to what I might just find on re-survey)Ouch. Well the client gets what the client wants....
