found gas supplier/Massive thanks

Hi peeps

ive found a fabrication/engineering company that will fill my newly acquired pub size bottle
they filled it with one of the many gases they use "argoshield light" ive just had a few practise runs with it & i have to say iam very impressed
i only have to turn the regulator a nats whisker & its plenty enough gas for me it really puts heat into the metal compared to the argon/co2 mix i use to buy from machine mart in fact i think i will have to alter the speed/amp settings
means now if i do have any outside welding i can turn it up due to the wind
£12.00 for a 3ft bottle.

Nice info.

To hyjack a little, I have this exact same reg and just got it back after lending it to someone. I still get a good flow, but the pressure gauge doesn't budge.

Could it be the gas is nearly empty? I would have thought the flow would be reduced if the pressure wasn't high enough to move the gauge, also my mate assures me he didn't use enough to empty it.


Also, anyone know anywhere local to Guildford that could fill my bottle with argon/co2 and maybe check the pressure, otherwise its back to supplier in the post which is expensive?

You need to be carefull about having the wrong gasses in the wrong bottles.

Will the pub gas bottle hold around 3000 psi ?

It might be cheaper but it can be very dodgy

yeah i can see where your coming from the bottle regulator as a valve at the opposite side the regulator screws to & it blow toady "Fisssssssssssss"
then you could hear the vale snap shut
EG: almost like a blow off valve so in theory it cant be filled more than it can take
so to speak
i deffo know where your coming from & the first chance to get hold of a Mig gas bottle i will
for a few reasons one of which these pub ones aren't the best to close so ive to rely on the twin gauge regulator to turn the gas on/off

is there a guy on here that sells mig bottles for a one off payment,,think his name is gasman,,,,i maybe totally wrong

I think gasman rents them, there should be a bit of info in the gas suppliers list. The main thing is to stay safe so you can carry on welding.

Emmmmm i"ll have to keep my eye on that one cheers mate
the chap that filled it today said there ok to use "but" there a sod to fill as the bottle regulator most times get stuck EG: cant turn them off,,just like mine did so its a case of swinging on the wee brass bit hoping it doesn't snap which it didn't
ive now fitted the gauge reg & its that thtas holding the gas off/on

This all sounds well dodgy to me lol. if you value your life(and that of unsuspecting neighbours)i would recommend finding yourself a reputable gas dealer who services his(and yours) bottles now and again lol
