Was it this thread perhaps?I've seen anvils made from pieces of forklift tines welded together so thet can be welded. I know someone on here posted what grade of steel they are and the correct rods to use in a thread about anvils but I can't remember what thread it was in
Mounting brackets are welded on on both my 8 ton lift forklifts!I only have MIG.
Back plates tend to be held on by brackets & clips.
I might have sourced a cheap set with back plate so will neatly bypass the problem as back plates are easy weldable.
Definitely in the strain area, ie anything not factoryI Believe the material is EN 8. Welding to them will fail the Loler Puwer inspection though.
