the vans normaly sit there and it says dvla - on a digital display normaly tjhey want the current payment and backdate to the previous month
I doubt it will work now as they closed them all.Too late now, but I managed to get a fine quashed by telling them I had posted the form with a cheque to local licensing office so it must have got lost in the post
Note: this tactic will probably only work once![]()
Yeah this is the latest con from DVLA. The thing in the OPS favour is the ANPR might show it as taxed.....you can go online and check that....whilst slim is correct technically it's not taxed ,to the ANPR is might be....since tax runs in whole months, it'll have started from the beginning of the month or the date you bought the van, whichever is earliest.
Fingers crossed there's no further action against you, although 'technically' you broke the law as soon as you drove the van away from the Seller/garage as RFL is not transferable at point of sale.
Depends with jobsworth you get there....They took my son to court despite me having the car in my unit. In bits and I had traders policy. How long after buying van until you realised you'd forgotten to tax ? If just a couple of weeks and you've now backdated to the purchase date then I doubt it's worth DVLA pursuing further.
I have all my cars and trucks on direct debit each month...i hate direct debits with a passion but theres then zero chance of driving without tax as its automaticly carries on to the next year
Does it cost more to pay by monthly DD?
+1Something like 5% more, it's a piece of mind thing for me
there is no charge if you pay yearly ie in full in one goDoes it cost more to pay by monthly DD?
He should probably check his credit score/rating given that a debt collection agency was involved, about 20 years a go I applied for a loan, got turned down. Nobody could tell me why, sent off for my credit score and found I had a county court judgement that I knew nothing about. Turns out it was my insurance company who hadn't paid and it was logged against me as policy holder. I got it removed after a couple of calls/letters.
