Foot pedal

Hi guys I'm new to tig welding well in fact I've not done any yet but was wondering what's a good foot pedal my tig is a 250amp?? I would like to start using a foot pedal from the start rather then add one later.

I wont be doing loads of tig so the price has a impact but buy a good one and buy once

The welder is a multi function R-TECH MIG-MTS-255S and has a 7 pin connector for the pedal

any advise welcome

You really have two choices. Either buy one off R-tech, or build your own.

Thanks I've read somewhere on the forum that the R-TECH ones are not very good or have they solved the problem

You would think they would offer a discount as the welder does tig as well they give them away free with there tig welders

Just as a heads up R-Tech are selling them on the bay for £125 shop soiled...... they do seem to have a lot of shop soiled gear..

I have previously bought a couple of pedals custom made from SSC controls in the USA,They build OEM pedals for Lincoln, Miller etc. Their build quality is excellent and prices good too. I have a genuine Lorch pedal for my T220. top class kit and looks to have been deigned by the guy that did the Forth Bridge, Totally indestructible And multi adjustable in lots of ways,

Shop Soiled is sometimes marketing speak for stuff returned under the Distance Selling Act, or just Faulty returns from customers who were spackers and couldn't get them to work right. Usually open box, but has been tested. At least, that's how it is with some of my clients, YMMV.

If I were teaching a complete novice to TIG weld then I would not start them off with a foot pedal.

IMHO it's an item that you move on to master at a later stage.
