Foot pedal problems?

ok so this miller tig set has a pedal with it but I dont think it is working right.

a couple of times I noticed the HF start arcing from the pedal to a axle stand under the bench they were 10mm apart.

it also does not stop the arc after 3 seconds like the button on the torch.

could there be a problem with the pedal?
are there checks I can make to confirm if pedal is faulty

I can't see any way that the HF could be getting down to the pedal unless you have a problem inside the welder like the hf leaking to ground or something?

How does the pedal connect to the machine, one plug or 2?

Faulty torch maybe

one plug to the machine. cant be a faulty torch because the torch welds fine with no pedal

ok after some more digging the pedal does could be faulty as it starts up fine and controls the current to the tungsten as it should but some times when I remove my foot from the pedal the arc dont always go out, and before I can get the pedal to start the arc again i have to fully depress it and then I can get going again.

Thinking it could be a dodgy switch in the pedal

I say torch in case hf is back feeding through switch
Even if pedal is knackered there should not be welding current there
