Foot pedal advice(recommendation)

Ok,this is the Tig i bought(2nd hand) about 6 mths ago and still haven't used it,kind of

The stick side of things works fine
But with other things going on i've yet to use the Tig side(only just sorted the gas out),yes i know,
Although i've done a couple of test runs,i'm finding it hard to handle the torch

I find this hard to handle with my old battered hands,someone i know who tigs said get a foot pedal,so hunting around for this unit all i came up with was this

Are you sure that the device is compatible with foot pedal? The schematics in user manual shows only 2 wires to torch trigger.
To be sure you should open the top lid and confirm visually the number of wires connected to torch socket.
For pedal combability there should be minimum 4 wires connected, 5 wires is more common .

as an on off switch ideal , but not as an amp control , even if the impedance matched the action is horrid ,,
I ran guitar pedals as smoke machine and data flash remotes for a long time ,,, in the analogue days

A little more info would be helpful. Are you having difficulty in holding the button down, or finding a comfortable position, and then finding it hard to keep the button pressed.

I was like yourself when I first started. There's a lot to take in, and a lot of muscle that needs training. Try breaking it down into smaller tasks to concentrate on and master.

Get used to just running straight runs on thin sheet with no filler. On a night sit and practice feeding the rod using both hands. Make sure you are comfortable and practice the weld run to make sure you can complete it in one go freely without having to move.

The best Snooker players in the world don't walk up to the table and smack it. They practice every shot.


Before you know it, a pedal wont be required for most stuff

Thank you for noting that,if you hadn't,i'd have bought a 5 pin foot pedal and have well peeeved off
So

you are correct,just two wires for switch only

2 again for the switch,but theres another 3 doing nothing

My right hand has had its day with years of abuse
Heres the torch

If the switch was more towards the head where it tapers down it be far more comfortable,i cant even use my forefinger on the trigger for the mig thats my middle finger job(easy now )
I'll get there somehow

A decent quality traditional wp9 torch will probably help….much smaller and lighter, different style of switch too good to about 120 amps
