they did that up here couple of years back they were giveing stuff away! especially some of the stuff they didn't know what it was and didn't appear on the system plus the staff gave less of a hoot than normal

For some reason this reminds me of the Woolworth's closing down sale. I came out with some pencil sharpeners, a pair of pliers for 30p and some bulbs for a halogen desk lamp. Wandering round there reminded me of why I hadn't bought anything there in years.

There's a Focus DIY about five miles away, so I might pop in. It will be the first time in years, seems like about 15 years.

Focus is an offshoot of the Dixons group.

Their products are way over priced and by the time they reduce them to sale prices these will be the same price if you were to buy from B&Q or similair sheds.

Yeh I was in the other day, mainly to use up some gift vouchers before they became usless

Even with the discount not any massive bargains to be had, maybe worthwhile going back when they reduce stuff further, but by then the only stuff left will be cr@p

That's about it. I can't help feeling that the reason they are in the position they are in is because there was nothing they offered you couldn't get better or cheaper somewhere else without looking very hard. A fairly limited range by the standards of other places too.

I popped in and had a look round and came away with a box of flying lanterns, which I've been looking out for for a few weeks.

20% off all garden furniture at ours peering through the window yesterday, the 20% seemed to be universal.

It is due to be one that turns into a B&Q - so perhaps the discounts are per store rather than universal?

Eeeh the Woollie close down .. I picked up six table top vari speed fans , a bag of six web cams , loads of pens and some toy my munchkin was after just a few minutes befor ethe doors closed forever all for the princely sum of £9.00

All gone now as ....small crimbo pressies or a wedding thing with the fans just incase the B&G got too hot .

Always avoided Focus as there a RIP OFF, since there closing down I popped in,,,,,,Even with discounts there more expensive than any where else local.

Plastikote I usuraly pay under £5 a tin, there price was nearly £8 but with discount just over £5.

Paraffin, same price as the Plastikote, still a little more than I have payed before.

Halogen heaters were about £25 with 50% off so £12.50. Well you can get them for £12 else where.

Clarke sanding pads and other clarke products are masively cheaper in the likes of Machine Mart.

No Frills was part of there chain and there closing down sale was a good one, they were priced right from the off ( same stuff as in Focus as same company ) and there 50-70% off was good. Got my Paraffin for just over £2, should have stocked up more at the time.

Still I hate companies who rip people off and for me it was obvious that they would go bust, good ridens.

Our local one didn't seem to be offering any more than 30% off anything. You wouldn't want to buy anything that might need taking back under warranty, and in all honesty there wasn't much there when I went in a couple of weeks ago.

I don't normally go to Focus (because the nearest one is 10 miles out of my way) but last year I made a special trip there to buy a shed which was on sale and was £100 cheaper than anywhere else. Seriously, I paid only £100 for a proper quality wooden shed which I thought was a fantastic bargain.

Problem with Focus going under is that less choice is never a good thing. Expect B&Q prices to climb even higher.
