I will take a closer look at it on Thursday as can't get there till then, when I have used it the slides seemed to have no play but thinking of getting a small hydraulic one as it will be better for my needs of pressing bearings in and out. I am near oldbury in midlands
A boiler factory I worked in used to use fly presses for various operations like punching holes and bending brackets. I used to hate the damn things when I was sent on there as everything was time and motion and you had to be like a robot to make any bonus. We had a selection of weights to drop on the handle to give more inertia and they sometimes ended up flying down the shop if someone got too enthusiastic. It's all hydraulic nowadays since Worcester Bosch took it over. Presses seem to make varying amounts depending on size and location, if they are not too big and someone local wants them you could get £100 to £150 or you might get lucky The price of scrap is down at the moment so if you get £40 you will be better off than scrapping it and save the transport.
My workshops are at my parents and have discovered there is some tooling with it, but need to have a look then will take some pics and post in for sale section. It does seem a shame to scrap it tbh
I have no need for it....at the minute.....though I have been drawing up some LT chassis members today. I would take it if no-one else wants it. There are uses in the offing.
As Chunko' said, it would be criminal. Something like that, there's ne'er a valid reason for scrapping it. You'll readily be able to sell it for more than scrap value, especially if you don't ask silly money for it. It's a win-win situation.
