Flux cored ?

bought what was supposed to be 1mm wire of flebay, got it home to find it's 1.2mm flux cored type
dual shield 11 70 ultra
think it's made by Esab, anyhow, I bought the stuff to weld some 4mm plate but compared to the 1mm I was expecting, this stuff is like fence wire.
What's it any good for ? can I use it without gas ? told the bloke I bought it off and he's offered me money back

dual shield will be designed to be used with gas, most likely CO2.

I'd send it back.

You will need to use Ar 80% CO2 20%. It's an all positional wire so it's gonna be used for stuff such as shipbuilding, you may be able to use it on 4mm depending on joint set up and your welding set but to be honest you will be better getting your money back and getting some 1mm A18

thanks for all that fellas, I'm actually repairing a steel yacht so will put into storage. it's not worth taking back for £4 ! if I buy 1mm a18 how many amps will be needed ? I'm limited to 240v and 13 amps at the yard
