flux cored for a new toy to play with

i fancy getting hold of a little secondhand flux cored mig, probably off fleabay, Clarke, and SIP toys are of course out of it, i have some pride ! so what should i look for ?

What ones will run flux cored and what won't, you need a different rollers right?

Snap on and Seally machines any good ?

I'd take a Clarke over a Snap-On or Sealy any day

Rollers may or may not be the same. Many don't have different rollers.

Snap On do not make MIG welders, they buy them in, rebadge them, then sell for a high price.

In the sub £400 bracket Clarke machines take a lot of beating as many owners on here will vouch for.

You really need a 300 amp set. Most FCW is only available in 1.2mm and above and runs at about 220 - 240 amps and 24 volts.
Im assuming you mean gas shielded FCW

My flux core is 0.9mm and works Well down to about 40 amps.

So does mine, and 0.8mm Lincoln Innershield for thin metal.

I think Technical Al is on about the industrial gas-shielded flux-core, a totally different kettle to what we play about with...
