I have a Riland RILTIG 130F, which is a small 130-Amp inverter-type GTAW machine. It is configured with a DINSE 25 connector for the work clamp (positive) and some sort of threaded gas fitting for the torch (negative). It is designed to do SMAW as well, and there is a "TIG/MMA" switch on the front panel. For SMAW I assume that I am supposed to connect the electrode holder to the positive jack (SMAW is most often done electrode-positive, right?), but then how would I connect the work clamp? I suppose I need some sort of adapter to connect the work clamp to the torch fitting, but I'm not sure exactly what this particular fitting is. Please see attached image. The outer diameter of the threads on the male fitting is 5/8".
Can anyone name it? Is there an off-the-shelf adapter that will turn this into something friendly like a lug terminal? If not, perhaps I will just solder my electrode holder cable into a large lug terminal with a big enough hole, and fasten it down with a nut -- assuming I can find one that will fit this fitting. Another option would be to void my warranty by putting an additional hole in the panel and installing a normal connector.
