flourescent tube starter problem

Had a light flickering changed the tube and starter. Yes praise the Lord there was light!

30 mins later light flickering like a disco. Removed starter it was fine. Ahh well dodgy brand new starter! Changed it and it was great - 2 hrs later - disco time! Removed starter and light nice and stable.

Have I just got a bad batch of starters or is it something else?

have a similar prob.........just jump up on the bench, twist the starter out and in again and it lights up.......then just twist the the starter out again to diconect it.........have to do the same thing everytime I need the lamp........!!!!!!!!!

would like 5' leds strip replacement but can't get em at a good price......€40 - 55 euro's, for just the tube.......will I have to wait 10 years for the price to be a reasonable 10'enner each (led)......

cheak the wiring on the inside live nutral conections are tight might be arcing in the ternimals long shot but worth checking and dont for get to TURN THE POWER OFF sorry but better said than not

if not the tube or starter and conections are ok chuck a new one up wickes about £15 ish new

wrong size starter fitted and if its not that the capacitors knacked .what size fitting is it . if its an 8 foot they do them in 2 wattages 100 and 125 watt . a 125 tube wont work in a 100 watt fitting . fittings up to 5 foot take a 4 to 65watt starter . 6 and 8 foot take a 75 to `125 watt starter

I've been buying 5 ft LED tubes for 13 euro each from my local electrical wholesaler recently and retrofitting all the fluorescent fittings i had. Gut everything out, the just bring your L & N straight from the terminal to the tombstones on one end. was taking less than 10 mins per fitting when i got into the swing of it. Instant white light, i'm loving them

Now that's something you won't hear everyday. LED got rid of shadows from previous fluorescent tubes. I guess the tubes just weren't bright enough or the reflectors were poor.

Yep, that's a place you want very good lighting.
As the prices are dropping, I'm getting closer to pressing the tit on a set of four to start with.
I've got 20 x 4ft in the workshop and the cost of replacing all of them was looking grim. Luckily, the old ones are soldiering on, and I've got enough spares for a while, but it's time to start getting some of the new tech in.

I bought four 5' led from the LED hut for £33 delivered. They came next day and 3 of them were broken!!

Called them up and they sent another 3 next day - all OK.

I've since managed to repair one of the broken ones and I'm sure with some fiddling I can hopefully repair the other two that will save me buying some for the loft

We bit the bullet 2\3 Years ago @Farside not regretted it the saving on the Hi bays was massive paid for themselves within 12 months,
All lighting in workshops & outside floodlights LED just in maintenance there is a saving

Well I used a larger starter. Worked ok BUT now there is a very annoying flicker rather than flashing on and off. Take the starter out light is nice and stable. Any ideas?
