So basically the back half of the skatepark I work at flooded today which sucks. Most of the wooden floor needs to be replaced but it's cool as we were going to do it soon anyway..
My concern is the flood happening again. I found out where the majority of the water is coming in, there is a fire exit in one corner and as we have a big canal bank behind us water was running down the bank, collecting, and then gushing in through the door. (Not canal water, the canal is about fifteen foot back from the bank edge..)
Some of the water went above the damp course and came in through the wall
MY GRAND PLAN!!! Having no knowledge of building or floods..
1. Dig out the back of the fire exit, lay a concrete slab right outside the back door.
2. Build a block wall about 2 blocks high.
3. Cover it on some sort of waterproof rendering, do the same for a few meters down the wall so as to help the damp course?
4. Be dead pleased with myself that everything worked perfect and the park is nice and dry..
Advice? Suggestions?
Cheers
