Flexipads degrading over time.

I bought my last batch of flexi discs 5 yrs ago, they always been kept out of sunlight in my tool box.

Recently I've had a few break and sure that's not happened before.That was one of my reasons for starting the 4 1/2 grinder thread.

Do they degrade over time or is it humidity?

Mine have a date stamped on the metal ring surrounding the central hole.

I mean the abrasive pads not the backing pad, sorry didn't make that clear.

I tend to leave a worn disc under the good one as protection for the backing pad.
