flange bearing

looking for a flange type bearing to hold a vertical shaft solid
it has to support about 1.5 ton
no pictures or drawings with me but its mounted on a flat plate
iv used these type before just dont remember how i got them been quoted ridiculous money to match what i want hoping someone on here might know of somewhere link if possible

ye they both are the type i want but can anyone tell me if there solid type or swivel as in it has to stay 90 degrees from the plate

Most will swivel. Unless your 1.5T load is a really well balanced lead disc it'll put excessive side load on a rigid bearing. You need upper support too surely.

If I'm reading it right you need to use an angular contact bearing - that is one which can take both radial and axial loads as it will have the shaft weight pressing down into the bearing.

Have you tried an agri machinery place. Usually have to carry a large bearing stock. Other than that there is http://www.bearingsonline.ie/
I think Hydraquip in Naas carry a stock of bearings as well but not 100% sure though

If it's taking 1.5 Ton, I'd say you want a thrust bearing.

IMHO you need to design this from first principles especially if it's a paying job.
If not fill yer boots with what you can get.
If it's paying you should look at axial and radial loads and alignments and select a bearing to suit your application.

A good sized normal deep grooved ball bearing can take an impressive axial load, angular contact better. We have a drilling machine that uses two such bearings to carry the load of a concrete drill. It weighs a ton and a half and if you feed it too fast it'll lift the machine off the floor.

Iv had the bearing I want before just its a few year since I made one of these spinners and can't remember where I got it or if customer supplied it the self

Motorcycle headstock bearing might do the job, and you can get taper bearing versions of those too.

decided going to make one it only need to turn at bout 10rpm or less so it plenty of grease and a ball bearing setup underneath it be grand

Have to ask... What are you making? If you have a bearing at the base won't you need a one at the top as well. Would it be easier to have a square plate welded to the base of the shaft and the housing for a taper bearing or thrust bearing bolted to this. Cant see 2 or 3 grub screws on a normal bearing housing holding up a tonne and a half or are you reducing the end of the shaft to fit inside the bearing.

One would assume (or seriously hope!) that the shaft will have some form of step to rest against the bearing.
