It is a wall wart.
Although it stays steady at 25.5v

It still reads 25.5v when connected to the scales but that still won't be loaded if they don't turn on!

We've got similar post office scales at work.

Try disconnecting the ribbon cable to the display, and reconnecting it, not saying it'll work for you, but saved ours.

I've removed/re-inserted all the ribbon cables. I've had the control panel apart as well and that all "looks" ok.

According to the instructions they turn themselves off after a while. Pressing any button turns them back on. No information on how to turn them on in the first place!
From memory, they just came on when power was applied.

I wondered if it was a keyboard issue and it's not seeing a button press but the number of buttons does not relate to the number of conductors on the ribbon cable so I don't want to start randomly bridging pins on the ribbon cable socket just yet...

Hopefully, (optimistic) it went into stand-by last time I used it and the flat internal battery is holding it there!!!

Is there a manual available for it?
Is there a reset sequence - I used to have a Salter scale that had similar problems, used to reset it until it finally gave up the ghost and I replaced it with a cheap digital kitchen one.

There is a service manual available but mainly seems to talk about the rs232 connections etc. Not found a wiring diagram, just a layout schematic.
Not seen any mention of a reset option, there is a small momentary switch mounted on the pcb though...

It would be nice to get these working again as they have a high resolution, a parts counting feature and go up to 25kg.
They also seem to come with network connections, 2nd station options, remote display ports etc.. which makes a quality replacement expensive for a lot of features I won't use.
At the same time I can buy used ones for £50 or new chinese for <£100 so I'm not sure if it makes sense to do anything other than diy repairs to these?

Years ago, I fixed a similar set of scales by simply removing and then refitting the socketed ICs. Could be worth a shot, just in case any of the pin connections have gone high impedance.
