Fitting tips in parting tool

My first time with one of these parting tools.
Can anyone tell me how to fit the carbite tip please? First tip came out while I was trying it and is lost in the swarf. I shattered the second tip trying to squeeze it home in the vice. They are a very tight fit in the groove.

I tap them in with a wood block or rawhide mallet.

I'd be checking the inserts are the correct ones for the holder.

Tip in the photo shows it as far as I can drive it with a copper faced hammer.
Ahh, probably chinese junk, I might try grinding a little bit out of the groove, if that knackers it, it can go in the bin.

I have that parting blade holder and the 3mm tips, mine just taps in and to remove you just stick a screwdriver or Allen key or similar in to pop them out.

As above ; I just tap it home with a bit of hardwood.
No need to overdo or overthink it, as the manner by
which it functions will push the tip towards the holder
whilst in operation.

Don't touch the groove geometry.
Buy some smaller inserts.

I did once have trouble with some cheap GTN2 inserts that were too loose, but it turned out that the expensive Cutwel holder was the problem. Bad batch.

Try the other end of holder.
If you do adjust the groove, note that it has two angled V faces which need to be preserved for the insert to be secure.

When tapping it in, dont hit the cutting edge as thats relatively fragile.

Tool holder looks different from the one in the ad, think I may have been sent the wrong one. I have tried the tips in both ends, theres no way they will go home.
I'll write the seller but by looking up his feedback, I will probably be wasting my time.
Looks like AliExpress have similar, I might get a set of the same tips and and the right holder there.

Looking up that code SPB226, the right inserts should be AP200. I think that’s GTN2, not sure.

I think you are right now that I look up the different kinds of tips available.
Thought when I ordered a set it would be right.

Both styles of holder work for the insert. Gtn2 and ap200 are the same thing. The only difference is that one has a stop to prevent the insert being pushed in too far.

Try other inserts. It appears they are pressed vertically and if the powder quantity or mix is slightly off, they will come out of hot pressing a different size.

I have had issues before with some, but the ones that fit, were excellent.

Where did you get them? If its a reputable shop, they should sort a replacement.

Was an eBay seller, blade holder and inserts sold as a set (item link above). I should have checked his negative feedback before buying, I now see that he has sold quite a few unuseable items.
I wrote him earlier today but so far no reply.
Ahh nothing lost, I will get a blade holder to suit the inserts and inserts to suit the holder.

It’s going to cost him to have you return them- and that is unlikely to happen. Even if he does, they were lost because they were unfit for purpose- which you weren’t supposed to know having bought the set.

Yes interesting, but he does say 'buyer pays return postage' and if he was to say when he received it that part of the item was lost or damaged due to buyer negligence I could imagine eBay accepting that and not paying out, and if I pay postage and end up with nothing I wouldn't be a happy fella, meanwhile I can use the pieces that I have when I get other pieces to match them.
I don't know if I'm right saying this, just my take on the situation.
