I was going to say the same.Looks like the insert is a size too big.
Bought as a set, but the groove in the holder does'nt look like the one in the eBay ad.......... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226242287809Looks like the insert is a size too big.
I tap them in with a wood block or rawhide mallet.
Don't touch the groove geometry.Bought as a set, but the groove in the holder does'nt look like the one in the eBay ad.......... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226242287809
Tip in the photo shows it as far as I can drive it with a copper faced hammer.
Ahh, probably chinese junk, I might try grinding a little bit out of the groove, if that knackers it, it can go in the bin.
I think you are right now that I look up the different kinds of tips available.Looking up that code SPB226, the right inserts should be AP200. I think that’s GTN2, not sure.
Was an eBay seller, blade holder and inserts sold as a set (item link above). I should have checked his negative feedback before buying, I now see that he has sold quite a few unuseable items.Where did you get them? If its a reputable shop, they should sort a replacement.
He could probably argue that I have lost one of the carbites and damaged 2 of them.If the seller doesn’t reply or tries to fob you off with partial refund you should be able to choose “return this item” in your summary.
Choose not as described as the reason and a brief description of the problem and a pic. EBay should refund if you have any problems.
It’s going to cost him to have you return them- and that is unlikely to happen. Even if he does, they were lost because they were unfit for purpose- which you weren’t supposed to know having bought the set.He could probably argue that I have lost one of the carbites and damaged 2 of them.
Yes interesting, but he does say 'buyer pays return postage' and if he was to say when he received it that part of the item was lost or damaged due to buyer negligence I could imagine eBay accepting that and not paying out, and if I pay postage and end up with nothing I wouldn't be a happy fella, meanwhile I can use the pieces that I have when I get other pieces to match them. It’s going to cost him to have you return them- and that is unlikely to happen.
