Hi all,
Just got a big reg and bottle, but unsure if there is anything I should do to prep either before fitting them together. Also do I need any special tools or will standard spanners etc... do?
cheers
Andy
We have all cracked a cylinder to clear the valve, but its not a recommended practice, and is banned under H&S rules in some organizations, 230 bar or 3360 psi in a cylinder can do a lot of damage to the human body. After seeing Tig pauls reply the airline option would be safer for cleaning the tapered seal.

I have a feeling cracking the valve is part of BOC's advise when fitting a reg. Sure i have seen it in their literature...![]()
I always 'crack' the bottle, unless its flammable gas, propane, acetylene.
Always stand at arms reach, googles and ear protection should be worn.
