I am a novice welder with a few years of experience with DIY projects.. Just took delivery of a Gys Smartmig 162 as an upgrade to my old SIP Migmate and decided to use the opportunity to switch from CO2 to Argon.
Attached are photos of my first welds on 2-3mm steel.. Any comments, feedback?
On the dice, I am happy most of the welds are good.. But a few got fatter as I moved along.> My theory is that I slowed down? I went a bit mad with a flap disk, so some of the welds arn't easy to see..
On the rusty bit, ignore the long straight welds.. They was done years ago on the old welder. Also the right most weld on the 4th picture was done without gas (Forgot to turn it on). The new welds are the clean ones..
My only concern is that some of the welds are a bit 'fat', but even though I changed the wire speed, I couldn't get them to settle down.. Are the they OK? Should the be less 'bulbous'?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Jon
