So Guys,
Today was a little bit of impromptu excitement.. The guy I rent the unit from asked me to sort out a few support for a small roof he is having some work done on. He needs 3 x right angle brackets with a diagonal gusset for support.
Here is what I did for the first one.
I'm happy enough with how most of the welds turned out. I think welder was set to 100Amps (or 90, if it wasn't 100). 2.5mm rod.
Marked and cut.
This was how I initially cut the flat steel. Turns out (spotted by another) that there would be no access to the bolt hole so I was advised to shorten the bar and just go edge to edge, despite being all ready to go.
This was the new plan. I dont have a post-cut picture.
Ready to go.. I prepared the steel with an abrasive mop disc and also a B&D Powerfile. These power files are great. I am going to get one as I can't bare to borrow other peoples power tools on a regular basis.
You can see a bit of a chamfer on both sides there. I did that, well.. because I heard it mentioned before. I must study the theory of all that next.
And now.. the welds..
I will post all the welds, numbered in next post and interested in any and all feedback.
