first time welder , have a look at my welds

ok heres my first try with a clarke pro90 on im guessing 1.5 mm ish steel

please could you point out what correction is needed for each style of weld

the ones quarter of the way in from left look worst to me...they seem to sit high and havent melted in at all (these were on the low power setting)

the others to my untrained eye look okay for a first time , maybe a tad easy to burn a hole but it seemed to work best on that setting

any polite tips welcome

Cleaning ALL of the rust off of the material will make things a lot easier, and will give a stronger weld when you start joining bits together. Also it looks like one or two of the welds are porous. Make sure your gas is turned up, or that the weld is shielded enough from any wind.

the one on the left end is dead smooth...any reason for that? is smooth a good thing or bad?

turn up your gas or keep it out of the wind

if its smooth look on the bottem if it looks like you put beed on the bottom it means you have 100% penatration

Thats a good thing not hard to do on thin metal maby get some thicker stuff , then you can make really big beeds and put more of them on
