First time use

Hi all,
Very new to this so please bare with me. Purchased new ESAB Buddy 160 and a new Parweld XR916H helmet and just tried it for the first time on 1mm stainless butt joint. Set unit to 20amps and gas flow to 8 l/m and was using 1.6mm tungstun. Started well but part way through found very bright flashing from tungstun tip causing me to stop. Had helmet set to 10 on shading and mid way for sensitivity. Any ideas why?

The current is too low and smooth on DC to keep the lense latched in, try setting the sensitivity to max, and if it has a delay setting, set it to long. Edit: just looked it up, it has 3 delay settings,

Nothing to do with the helmet but 8lpmgas flow is far too high, indoors you should be able to weld at around 4 or 5 lpm, any more is a waste of gas.
