First real MIG Project

Hi

I do some TIG work at work and decided recently to restor a VW Bug for our Lass. I am an engineer by trade so as an aprentice played with welders and my Dad was a foundry welder years ago, so the condition of the bug didnt bother me.

I have removed the floor pan but find it a pain bending over to clean and repair it on the floor so i spent last weekend making this..

It makes working on the floor pan easy.

That's a neat rotisserie. Is the bearing just a thick bolt? Suppose that's all it needs to be to hold that sort of weight (so long as it doesn't get too worn).

Definately these things are the way forward. Make life so much more bearable. Planning to convert mine to fit the body without the chassis being attached for all the underneath work on that.

I had seen a more beefed up job with a mini on it that was a home fab job but lost the link a long time back could do with one for the next Range Rover Joby

This one i want to use to turn my MGB GT eventually, I have seen on a VW forum a smaller version made out of 25mm box that attaches to the rear inner wings and the front floor pan mounting bolts to turn a beetle shell look good i might try that one next.

Good thing about the rotisserie as after you have done the car, you can always stick have a pig on it and have yourself a real good BBQ. Jokes aside it has to make life so much easier that trying to crawl around and get yourself in the right positions, nice job
