Sounds like it might be the contacts on the solenoid are tired, usually you can get a rebuild kit for them, if the next time it misbehaves you short across the two heavy duty contacts while someone tries to start it with the key and it then starts you'll know it is the contacts. Alternately if it's easy to remove, take it off and have a look before it gets any worse.and i had to beat the crap out of the starter motor the other day t get it to start
its broken down 4 times since the mot...once for a fictional injector fault (light came on and message on screen saying check injection...turned light off on laptop and it was fine), once for cam position sensor, started running on 3 becasue the plug on one of the coil packs had come loose and i had to beat the crap out of the starter motor the other day t get it to start
