Hi all
It was my first night at collage doing TIG, i have completed Level 1 MIG and ARC so now onto TIG.
The following were done with the following set-up:
1. Red tip 1.6mm Tungston
2. 1.6mm Filler rod
3. 50Amps
4. 8L/hour Argon
5. 1.0mm plate
I am really struggling to feed the filler rod in.
These were very flat
Under side of the above
Moving slower i built the weld up.
Lap joint again very flat
Underside of one of the lap joints
Any comments before i go back on Monday and try again?
Rob

Looks okay for a first night. First night of my course, we just did 'no filler' fusion butt welds to get used to the equipment etc. Then filler rod butt joins, lap welds and then inside & outside fillet welds. It's all practice (I have my first fillet weld coupon sitting on my desk at work), and a lot of it is (a) steadiness of hand and (b) timing of adding the filler.
