Opened and already caught fireA £10m lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Wolverhampton has suffered a fire just one day after its official opening.
Fire engines attended Libatt Recycling on 5 July, after an isolated incident involving a single pallet of batteries in one of the site’s seven storage bays.
Libatt Recycling was officially opened by its owner, the Recyclus Group, on 4 July. Technology Minerals in turn owns 48.25% of the Recyclus Group.
im surprised they even reached the plant the amount of cars setting on fireA bit misleading too, the batteries are not being recycled. This plant is only shredding them and seperating the inner goo from the metal casing to be shipped elsewhere for processing.
It is difficult chemistry to seperate lithium, cobalt, nickel etc.. from the graphite..
A fire already![]()
All this cutting down on single use plastic and being good for the environment , still no ban on disposible vapes though with a little lipo in every one. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh (massive pet peeve of mine).
Nothing but ticking incendiaries bombs. One will cause a terrible fire and loss of life sooner or later
People are that careless with money these days I dont think a deposit would be enough of an incentive not to sling away.Every disposable vape I have picked up and removed the batery from , the lipo has been fine , gets to labled capacity fine.
You can buy 5xvapes for £20 , you can sell the 5x lipo cells for £10inc post on ebay (well that was the average last I looked)
50% (ish) discount on vapeing should be enough incentive to recycle them. , seems incredible there isn't some sort of 50 pence or £1 deposit return incentive on them
Ra Ra Ra and let me tell You !
