you have put down one or two fair beads amongst that lot.Wot u might want to do now is put the settings on the machine, do a run and so on until you get a good one, then write down settings and material thickness as a guide for future jobs-you don't need it after a while-it becomes intuitive.
That first picture resembles the face of the wumman I woke up next to on me last night on the Mull.
Was rushed when posting before, dinner was being put on the table. The top picture is the welds the the other picture is the backside of them. It was pretty awkward, we were only welding with one hand. The other hand was holding the face shield that came with the welder, it's rubbish. The other one will be used from now on
One handed MIG you will struggle, I can do MMA no propping or support once I get my eye back in, but the skinny electrode (wire) on MIG means that you really need two hands and the MIG gun, I venture to suggest is designed for that. I can do MIG one handed as my right wrist gets a lot of exercise these days.
But 2 hands is the way to go and you should see and feel the improvement.
You can't see a thing with the shovel shields. It's a hundred times easier with the auto dimming masks. Writing down the settings definitely helps fine tune things.
Here are some of today's attempts, played with the settings some more. Used two hands. Much easier. A lot of slag but when brushed off very clean. Need to get more wire, ran out today. The wee reels that come with the welders don't last long.
Looks like quite thin steel, doing well considering that. Especially if you're using gassless? I'd try to get a bit thicker, 2 or 3mm will be more forgiving. Good work!
Hi johnser, it is gassless at the moment and thin metal, about 1mm. It's actually my son that did all the welds in the last picture. I thought I better let him do some as it is his Xmas present! Need to sort gas for it too.
Not had a lot of good weather recently so we have not been welding much. It is getting better though. Got some thicker steel to play with too. We do have pictures but they are on my sons phone, I ain't touching that! To complicated for me
i have also been attempting fluxcore and am a newbee. but have learnt. to drag gun, not push. reverse polarity. use longer stickout. remove gun shroud. hope this helps
