First few projects..

Hello

Got my mig back in November, with some car body work in mind, so far its not been near a car.
Have been enjoying a bit of metal forming really, mostly recycling bits of scrap, figured Id put up a few photos of my efforts so far, as really its thanks to this website and DaveAl on youtube for the ideas.

Toilet roll holder mk1- (my tack welding has inproved since this!)

Rose and snail (chunkolini, hope you dont mind me borrowing the snail idea!)

Twisted 3 strand round bar, cold formed

Well said that man, drives me nuts! I'm sure she does it on purpose.

The first holder looks like it has a telescopic plastic sprung spindle (that's the technical term).

Our lass swears she doesn't put the roll on that way round, on purpose, but some how it always is. Good job I only use the down stairs bog

this is nearly as bad as the landy boys(any of you who are a member or read land rover international will know what im on about)

for those of you who dont they have a whole thread devoted to which way round the toilet roll should go and its fairly popular

Nice gothic bog roll holder. How are you making the curves and twists?
The snail? looks familiar.
Shame about the cheapo bog paper.

That paper looks the right way round to me I find it's less likely to be brushed-against and consequently unroll to soak up the p155 off the floor if it's against the wall like that.
What argument is there for it not being near the wall? Is it because some people can't avoid getting poo on their fingers and transferring it to the decor? Presumably they're the ones who p155 all over the floor in public toilets as well...

Yeh, first one I just used the plastic sprung telescopic tube from the old broken el cheapo tat that was on the wall from the 90's. I didn't like the first one I made because of this.

Nah never met, I did go on your website via the link from here awhile back, thats where I saw the snails you made? I think?!

Yes, cheapo bog roll paper.. for when the tripple quilted, rose sented, gold flaked trimmed stuff has ran out

For the scrolls, I just have a motorbike chain link that I clamp in the vice and cold bend the bar to shape by eye -

for the 3 strand twist I made a 'A' kinda shaped tool from some scrap box section, stick it in the vice and twist it cold whilst practicing my swearing -

If you hate the toilet roll on the waterfall way around, then your gonna cry at the kitchen roll!

That's either a very small vice or one hell of a large bike chain link!

Chain links? I have a length of chain where each link is about 120mm long.
I was given it years back by a guy who had heard I was using chain as a sculpture thing.
He turned up my house with 8ft of it, said 'you might like this' and departed, saying '£200 a foot'. Reckoned it came from a muck spreader.
Not got a clue who or from where he came.
I live in a small town, I know the suppliers locally, nobody ever grassed him up to me.
Fantastic. If I remember I will post a photo of it.
