I had to like that photo.

Welcome mate, things will improve, but read the mig section as said, and watch YouTube videos on beginners mig welding.

It's a slippery slope....

welcome to the forum Darren you will enjoy this forum persevere mate you will get there mate i was in the same boat as you a few months back mate once you get the hang of it you will be just fine word of warning mate its not a cheap hobby this welding game hehee i keep buying new toys all the time but welding is very rewarding i love it i only wish i had started welding years back

Turn up the voltage

first off your weld is cold also apears as no gas around your weld you need to be closer dont be scared of it 5/10mm away from your welding with the gun

it looks like pigeon crap and it has wire sticking out

weve all been there except the comment

you apear to be welding to 3mm with a 5mm bolt id be welding at

A 2 Max 4mm
A 3 Max 5mm

as a clarke 151 guide

to note i weld with the 150 and im welding 5mm via the 13 amp plug no problem other than forgetting its trip out when in use

this is how i see it as reference points for clarke 150/151

done by sheet steel thickness

1 Min 0.8 sheet
A 2 Min 1/2mm
A 3 Min 2mm/3mm

1 Max 2mm/3mm
A 2 Max 4mm
A 3 Max 5mm

then adjust your wire speed to suit i set mine around 4/5 and adjust from there on any sheet thickness

note gasless burns hot and looks hot you may not weld or you will burn through if your not careful ive used it myself and dont like it

extra info use your other hand as a support the gun in is place so your resting the gun over your second gloved hand and pointing it a t the weld your going to do

Everyone’s welds look like that at the start.... or worse

read the tutorials several times and practice practice practice

there is no shortcut to this

don’t worry about posting pics of bad welds , we really want to help

when the sarcasm starts you know you have made it into the club

yeah i do that as well i seen on utube video i keep my arm in the same position then do a practice run with the gun so your keeping the same position with out moving it helped me that did mate

Takes me back 30 years!
Start off on 3 mm thick, like for like, not threaded rod.
A 150TE needs gas, looks somewhat devoid?
Is it a new or used machine?

Welcome to the forum...as others have said you'll get there. Looks like my welds used to when I was using the small hobby bottles of gas....what gas supply have you got?

That pigeon is not well As said, get some 3mm and turn the power up and then tweak the wire speed to suit and practise runs before you start joining stuff together. Turn the feed up high then turn it down till it stops pushing back at you and machine gunning then work on keeping the torch steady and at a set distance from the metal using both hands. Keep at it you'll soon get the hang.
