Finnally got my tig set up, and had a little go (i'm talking about 5 seconds).
I'm used to a cheap buzz box, so I switched it on and thought I;d fired up a main frame computer - these fans come on, thought it was about to speak its name like stephen hawkings!!
Just fired up an arc for a few seconds on a peice of mild steel, just a quick go to see if it works, the arc is well different to ARC welding, its nearly silent in comparison, no popping, spitting or anything, and the arc was like a haze (I didn;t bother shaping the tungsten - as I just wanted to check it worked)
weird - but VERY cool
Just need to get some filler rods and some jubilie clips to hold the argon hose on the back of the welder (it popped off!!) - I'll get the tungsten set up right, clean off some thin stainless I have, and have a go at welding it!
CAN'T WAIT!
