I love his YouTube channel; seems like a genuinely likeable chap, no ego or agenda - just seems happy to share his knowledge, experience and projects.

Yeah, huge fan here too. Fantastic workshop full of amazing machines.
I like some of his videos, this one was good but it was an infomercial for his vice, I skimmed the one where he gets other fabricators to make a box section square, infomercial for his weld table, IMO his channel is 90% infomercials, but he is good at making them.

Appreciate the infomercial element but man those were some punishing tests.
Seriously, how do you think one of your monster vices would fare under that punishment?
Fireball vice jaws are about 2" lower than the other 2, $/lb will only be relevant once the made in USA price is known, even then it could be cast and machined in Taiwan and still be "Made in USA" although I don't think he will do that.
This wasn't a like for like test, having said that I'm not doubting it is a very good vice with some nice features but if I had work to do I would want to be able to hold larger cylindrical parts long before I would want to build a contraption to beat it to death.
The "L" shaped jaws are nice, but it will have to be machined to a tight tolerance to share the load on the horzontal surfaces. The finer pitched screw, shorter handle and thrust bearing are a nice feature too. Some of it's strength with come from the jaws being a smaller cantilever, maybe some of the clamping force too, probably less friction in the slide as less force will be transfered.

It would be fine as there’s so much material there and the grade of sg I used is certified 420 so same strength as steel

Just out of stupidity I did make a slightly heavier pattern version of my vice with a 18” opening , bigger nut to allow 55mm thread and reduced cores .
Common sense has stopped me at the moment though I might make a pair for my daughters to flog when I’m dead

I think his tables are made by a manufacturer in Taiwan who make them for a number of people. Can’t remember the name unfortunately but I have spoken to them
