Fire and saftey Qs

Hi all, am about to embark on saving my Old Hilux from the scrap heap, after reading Redwins posts, I hopefully will restore the roof etc and have it water proof and rust proof again, my Q's is instead of removing the whole headliner, can I place a fire blanket so it is in between the weld and the Headliner, blocking off any chance of sparks reaching it, have a Extinguisher close by also, the headliner has metal bars crossing over and looks very difficult to remove, have folded the liner back enough to place material inside for protection from sparks, will this be safe enough? front windscreen was pulled out today, can easily get my hands inside the headliner to place alli plate for reducing heat and distortion, won't buy a fire blanket until I get feedback. Sounds a bit 'iffy' mate. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Should be fine if you protect the interior and have a 'firewarden' close-by with plenty of water. Just make sure the friewarden concentrates and is not a day-dreamer.

The headlining bars should pop out once compressed, may allow the headliner to be pulled back out of the way enough if total removal is not an option.

Personally, if is was a choice between a saggy headliner, or a smoldering heap of burnt Hilux: well.....

Will have anothe go at bars, had many yrs in the Volunteer Firebrigade, seen too many burnt out vehicles to see mine end up like that.
