Finding info on a mig

My name is sam i have bought a mig from my old boss and i am trying to find a manual for it.

Its a mac tools/ weldmate p170w - gas

Hope its half decent and i dont get mugged off haha.

I tried that but nothing. Searched sip's site aswell.

It definately looks like a Sip. Probably a discontinued machine. I would phone them direct quoting the model number P170W

Hello SX.Can`t put my finger on the make but Snooper could be correct.The best thing I have seen about your set is that it has a detachable torch.This will make life ok for you if you need to change liners etc.Any help let us know

That definitely looks like a relabelled SIP and one of their bye-lines was Weldmate. You could try SIP for a manual. I haven't found them any help and they seem to like to forget they ever sold most things now off their price list.

Mostly, the manuals for these small MIG sets are similar and if you can't get the one for this particular model get one for a MIG set of similar amperage.

If you need a circuit diagram and can't get the one for this model see if you can get one for a SIP TopMig.

Did he show you it working? That's always a good step when buying a second hand welder.

SIP have a reputation for wirefeed problems and there are long threads on here about fixes to improve them.

That looks a bit more substantial than the DIY MIG sets they sell and it may not have the same problems.

Take the side off and post a pic of the internals and the wire feed including rollers

Taking the side off won't help much, it's a toploader

Yes it will, it will show circuit board and transformers then could be compared to topmig layout

I used to use it alot and no one used it since i worked there cos they was scared haha..
