I got the guy at work to get me in some 20mmx4mm cold rolled steel a while ago and now I need some more. The only trouble is the guy has left and they can't figure out where he got it from. Seems to be a bit of an odd size. Can anyone suggest a source please?

20 x 4 is not a standard section size. 4mm thickness is quite uncommon (but seems to be available in 65mm, 75mm and 100mm wide). 'Cold rolled' seems to be an unusual term here in UK; suppliers tend to use 'bright mild steel' or BMS.

Is it possible he bought gauge plate instead of BMS?

A quick Google search hasn't led me to anywhere selling it yet but apparently Liberty steel in Scunthorpe are due to roll some next week so they must be sending it somewhere

Have you got a metal supermarkets near you? They can normally get what you want, but not the cheapest.

Andrew: it's definitely metric. FIrst thing I did was see if it was inch sizes.
