Fincord M 2.5s, cheapest place?

As the title suggest, where the cheapest places for 2.5 Fincord M 6013 rods.
Looking for at least 2kg as I'm now an arc welding convert.

Oerlikon citofix are a far better rod than fincord m. Fincords aren't a good rod for gap bridging and they have a tendency to trap slag very easily. They are the most over rated over expensive rod u could have.

Do you know where the cheapest place to buy them is? If so then please add that to your pointless reply.
Nothing wrong with suggesting alternatives based on real-world experience.

No, the prices continually change and the best option is to shop around; the response is not pointless as the OP hasn't specifically stated what he wants them for and if he likes a harder rod.

Oelrikon have just had a relatively large increase in rods, somewhere in the region of 10-12% so prices are going to be increasing relatively soon. You're probably looking at between £45-£50 a 5KG pack on eBay.

That being said.. if you find a supplier on eBay always call them first, they'll be happy to sort a better price over the phone because of no eBay charges.

Might be worth a look on welding supplies direct, or similar, as they have a decent selection. Not sure if they are the cheapest fort the Fincord but they have Hilco reds which I get on with pretty well and are a reasonable amount cheaper.

As has been said, sometimes suggesting alternatives is actually helpful, you have been guilty in the past of doing the same thing or posting things which don't bring any value to the thread.

Calm down, calm down people. Reason for asking about the fincords is that they've popped up a few times recently as a decent enough rod compared to cheapo TOOLSTATION rods ect...
I am open to other opinions if people have had a bad run with them.
I'm new to arc welding as I've only ever mig welded but I much prefer arc welding now.
I am using up an old batch of BOC rods from years ago so there's a good chance there a decent brand before BOC went the Chinese way.
One thing I do know is that I won't be trying super 6 rods as I've read way to much negativity about them on here.

So the citofix rods are good then, I'll have a look around for them as they seem to be coming up cheaper than the fincords.
Also should I just be looking to stay with 6013 or could I use another rod for say uphill vertical ect...

Please advice as I'm a newbie to positional arc welding and I've even gone to the extent of enquiring at my local college for welding and fabrication courses to change career.

I was simply advising him that the citofix Are generally an all round better rod. Fincord are rutile excellent finish very runny rod. Citofix are a rutile cellulosic mix type rod. Better rod for general work. There's no need to go digging at me I'm a pipe welder it's my trade I know what I'm talking about. Sometimes I hate this forum for that and I was on topic advicing him. Citofix about 14 euros for 2.5 kg box fincords about 18euros in Ireland.

There's nothing wrong with them there fine. But like I said there not as tolerant to gaps or bad fit ups as the like of citofix or overcord z.

worth noting if I have to buy some I rarely do welding so I have a good stock I got given . nice to have a professional opinion on forum saves making mistakes and a lot of browsing

Not having a dig at you, the OP stated a specific rod and from that we can assume the possibility he is looking at welding something specific where he prefers the specified rod, without knowing what this is nobody can give specific information, I like both rods to be fair, but use different ones for different applications.


If you are a newbie than I would suggest trying as many different types of rod as possible an while in general you get harder or softer rods you may find matching a specific type of rod to your machine is as beneficial as some machines weld better with a few specific types of rod; recently I was lucky enough to acquire some Nikko Steel rods in 3.2 and 4mm and these work very well with my machines while most of them also like Lincoln rods.
